If you look at Pacqueta’s stats from Lyon he is more of a ball winner and short passer than anything particularly attacking. Although that could just be the way he was asked to play there. All the same I think he could be good in the CDM role. That said, he will need time to bed in to the squad and the way Moyes wants him to play. So expect plenty of subs appearances as he settles in. Language could be a problem initially too. It needed Areola to translate Nolan’s instructions to the Brazillian in French!

Also last night, first time I’ve heard a home crowd chant ‘your support is fucking shit’ to the away fans. It’s always the other way around. Quality.

I thought the throw in that led to our goal was a borderline foul throw in and was expecting VAR to chalk the goal off!

Left the OS last night feeling hugely encouraged by the second half performance. We genuinely have options now and when the incomes are bedded in who knows what our best eleven is and our most effective tactical set up. In addition most of the squad will need to be giving their best constantly because of competition for their place.

If we don’t make the final of the Conference, with this squad I will manger mon chapeau.

Much better performance from the team.

Thought Soucek looked more like his old self.

Paqueta showed some good skill and not shy of the tackle either.

Hopefully we still get a CM to fully push Soucek but i think Paqueta could also play next to Rice comfortably.

Good post Nick QQQ

Pretty much agree with that.

We played in front of Spurs too much but our shape without the ball was solid, Fornals dropped in to left back to make a 5,4,1 and largely looked comfortable.

Declan was imperious last night, looked back to his best.

For Spurs I thought Bissouma and Kuleskevski looked good.

Overall in contrast to last season’s 1-0 to us which was a boring game and two poor sides, this was an enjoyable game with 2 decent sides.

I really enjoyed the 2nd half - I think we did enough to win but a draw wasn’t unfair.

That game gave me real hope that we might compete again this season.

Also credit where it’s due I’ve been a critic of Antonio and Soucek and thought both did well last night.

Nice touch as well after the goal from Coufal high fiving the quick thinking ball girl who gave the ball to him quickly to take the throw.

Thought it was very similar to all of the games this season in that we were lacking any quality in the ball first half much better in the second half.
Thought Kehrer was excellent, Rice and Soucek much better and Antonio caused problems with his running.
Fornals for me needs benching, apart from his work off the ball can’t remember him getting a kick for about 60 mins.
Same for Bowen. He was terrible last night. Looked lost at times.
Paqueta’s cameo was good. Got stuck in and you can see how confident he is on the ball. He has to start against Chelsea.
A good point? Maybe. But Spurs despite all the plaudits are very boring and we should have beat them imo

Bringing on Ogbonna to play left back, when we had Emerson on the bench, was a proper divvy decision that was thankfully rectified not long after they brought that snidey cunt Richarlison on.

A decent point and performance.

I think once the new signings all bed in and get a few games under them then we will see the best of them. Kehrer is a good example of that.

I can see Moyes having a similar starting line up against Chelsea but then against the Romanians next Thursday the likes of Scamacca, Paqueta, Cornet & Emerson will all start.

as strong as spurs look, I don't think there's much between the two squads, and most importantly - what we don't have is their petulance and constant fouling. once they come up against the bigger teams, the referees won't be so quick to give them ridiculous decisions like when that twat sanchez threw himself to the floor, or when that prick hojberg started time wasting as soon as the second half started. also, their keeper is a disaster waiting to happen

Maybe he’s just a really, really fucking good laugh. Or fluent in several languages so we can save money on translators for the foreign players.

Or a tactical genius, or getting into coaching or something and Moyes is chucking him a bone by letting get involved somehow.

But seriously I’m not sure why he’s there either. Especially now we must have enough players to actually fill the bench unlike three weeks ago.

my two pennies....

Not a bad result, neither team really created enough to win it but thought we looked the more likely of the two. Think as people have said Spurs were there for the taking, apart from the front 3 they aren't all that. The back 3 and GK were defo there to be got at and bit disappointing we didnt test them more.

For the goal thought Zouma was so bad in not going out to press the ginger winger. Didnt engage him at all or delay him when he was out wide. Gave him the space to attack, really poor. Thought Kehrer alongside him was excellent on the ball, really like the way he fizzes forward passes and breaks lines. However have reservations defensively when playing in a flat 4. Coufal looked a bit better, be gutted if Ashby departs today though. Same for ol Craig.

In midfield Rice and Soucek much better, Soucek took his goal well. Fornals did ok, again just not good enough in and around the box...needs to be converted to a no 8. Benrahma shows so many good glimpses but just decision making at times lets him down so bad. Would have liked to see him left on to link up with Paqueta. Bowen needs to be dropped now.

The thing that was frustrating from a tactics point of view is that we set up to play in front of them and then dont play players that can unlock teams. So many times when we break we don't have players running beyond like they do, no one looks to break lines or get in behind. Its a forward pass then backwards or Fornals cuts inside to lose all momentum. Would love to see us play Cornet, someone who will run beyond and stretch teams allowing more space for a no 10. Apart from Soucek we dont seem to have any goal threat from that no 10 postion anymore. No link up with a ST, no shots or assits centrally etc. We seem to threaten only from the wide areas which has to change.

Thought we missed Scamacca, him coming on last 20/25 would have been interesting, their back 3 is average.

Overall a good point, plenty to build on, part of me thinks Chelsea are not as good as Spurs at the moment. We should be targeting something on sat then beat Newcastle and thats a good trio of games.

Serious question. Why does Moyes persist in putting 2 keepers on the bench?

If Randolph is fit he has to be on the bench for PL matches to pick up his matchday squad bonus. It’s in his contract. He is making out like a bandit

Hadn’t realised just how boring and negative Spurs are. They time wasted and settled for a point from about 40 mins.

Can’t believe their fans like their passing around at the back. Our high pressure totally got to them and they nearly gifted us a few goals.

How on earth did the ref keeping letting holberg go down and stopping the game. What was going on there?

As others have said I thought Bowen had broken his leg. Am dreadful tackle from Davies which should have been red. Bowen very lucky he wasn’t injured.

On another day we score 3 or 4 there.

Enjoyed it. Fancy is to get something against Chelsea now if Moyes goes for it abit.

'Very good to have Soucek and Rice back. '

Spot on. Not often I agree with you Mexy old son, but that was a welcome return to the sort of form they've had previously, where they were among the best DM pairing in the division.

I loved how Rice picked off Kane last night, just keeping an eye on him until he got possession then robbed the ball off him and away.

We ended the game looking far stronger than them. If only Cresswell could get a long term injury, their RW had all the game against him until he went off

Big opportunity missed
Honestly don’t remember fab making a single save all game. They are one very lucky team seemed every deflection half clearance seemed to fall to them.
We had sone very big chances
Thought Antonio and kehrer both played very well and were probably the stand outs, Bowen and rice both seem to still be off colour especially Bowen who had a couple of great chances. Soucek nicked his goal but for me was not getting in the box enough, if he’s not scoring over 10 goals the negatives far out weigh the positives in his game, hopefully this means he’s finally found his shooting boots. Benny had a quiet game.
The fullbacks and fornals were poor as much as you have to like fornals endeavour and love for the club he’s not a very good footballer and the two fullbacks pace is a massive problem.
When Johnson is back and hopefully Emerson can get a few games under his belt we’ll actually have a pretty decent team with most areas covered with decent back ups
The new lad had sone nice touches and although didn’t contribute much of note I was happy with the fact he didn’t mind getting stuck in whether he’s a success or not will depend on a lot of things but it doesn’t seem like being a complete pussy like Anderson will be one of them
